Drywall &
Backer Board

There are different kinds of materials available for your
wallboards. Among them gypsum wallboard and concrete
backer board are well-admired materials for bathroom
walls. Wallboards are easy to make and provides soft and
easy to paint surface. Following are some useful
particulars regarding drywall and backer board.
Dry
walling your bathroom is a good design to have the perfect
water resistant finish. Water resistant dry wall is made
out of gypsum, which is preferred on the shower stall
ceilings and around the area of bathtubs. Drywall is
called Greenboard, generally. Green board is slightly on
the costlier side but better than any other waterproof
finish.
Another
best resolution for your bathroom is concrete backer
board. Concrete backer board has a solid concrete hub and
is armored with fiberglass mesh. It's ideal for wet areas
like whirlpool decks, shower walls and bathtub surrounds.
Backer board is generally tough to cut than wallboard. Use
a straightedge guide and score a line a few times using a
carbide-blade cutter or a short-bladed utility knife.
Crack the board along the score line and cut any remaining
mesh. If the backer board doesn't quite meet flush with a
drywall surface, fur out behind the backer board with felt
strips, or for wider gaps use wood furring strips. |
